JOB
As an Automotive Technology Adjunct Instructor you will be reporting directly to the Dean of Workforce, this position will be responsible for providing individualized and/or group instruction for adults with a wide range of academic and career goals. This instructor will be responsible for teaching the ASE Education Foundation certified Automotive Technology Master Level curriculum. This instructor will also work closely with industry and the program’s advisory committee. Other professional responsibilities may include: maintaining office hours at times that are convenient to students, participating in professional improvement activities, coordinate the provisioning of supplies and materials, ensure the proper maintenance and repair of equipment, and other related duties as may be assigned by the dean. This is a part-time position responsible for 20-40 hours per week of instruction and related professional duties in our daytime or evening Automotive Technology classes. Teaching assignments may include web-enhanced, online, or hybrid courses. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis by the Dean of Workforce. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically minoritized populations) and create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Support the college's mission by creating a learning environment of mutual respect and fairness, while encouraging creative and critical thinking. Contribute to the appreciation of diversity and foster an inclusive and equitable working and learning environment. Effectively teach the adopted curriculum for the Automotive Technology program.Provide for the orderly conduct of program learning activities, individual student learning needs and the appropriate evaluation of student progress towards attaining the learning objectives.Contribute to the development and updating of program curriculum, coordinating with members of the advisory committee to ensure that the automotive technician training meets industry needs.Maintain appropriate individual student records and submit them in a timely manner as required.Administer and interpret college procedures; resolve issues, resulting in mutual respect and tolerance for varying points of view. Maintain office hours convenient to students.Perform recruiting and job placement activities for students.Actively participate in, develop and maintain effective working relationships with the program advisory committee.Develop a professional improvement plan and participate in improvement activities. Evaluate student progress towards attaining the learning objectives to include individual assignments, projects, quizzes, and standardized tests.Work as a team player, appropriately exhibiting a positive attitude and support of other units that provide series to the automotive student body.Develop and maintain relationships with representative of automotive retail dealerships, independent shops, and tool/equipment suppliers, municipal, county and state fleets as appropriate and related professional organizations. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff.Serve on department and college committees and participate in events.

 
 
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
In the interest of providing a healthy, safe and secure educational and work environment, and in order to meet the requirements of federal legislation, it is the policy of Renton Technical College to maintain an alcohol and drug-free workplace for our employees and students.Candidates will be asked to provide documentation of unofficial transcripts of graduate coursework This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. Lecture (theory) credits are compensated at $1,058 per credit, which includes scheduled class time and final exam days. All guided practice instructional credits for adjunct will be paid with an additional pay factor of 1.33. Future advancement in base salary, up to the current maximum of $1,592 per credit, is based upon a combination of years of service accrued at our college and professional development activity. Degree Stipend: Master’s or Doctorate degree stipends are paid on a prorated per credit rate.The person hired is required to provide authorization for employment in the United States. All offers of employment are contingent to background checks, including employment and required degree/credential verification. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform successfully in the position. Finalists are required to complete the Sexual Misconduct Disclosure form as required under RCW 288.112.080. Post offer, pre-employment criminal background checks are also required.
