Financial BI Specialist

Job Description

Responsibilities*

Support clinical healthcare and research activities through business intelligence data analysis, database marketing, data mining, dashboard creation, and data management. Deliver reports, dashboards and write advanced SQL queries. Design and support automated workflows to extract, structure, and store data. Develop descriptive and predictive models and perform analysis to support planning and decision making. Collect and maintain key performance indicator data. Collaborate to identify technology-based process improvements and lead change management efforts. Function as a pre- and post-award specialist compiling statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables pertaining to such matters as journal entries, vouchers, and standard transactions such as expenditures for materials, equipment, support staff, and travel. Advise faculty on long-term financial viability for multiple research grants and contracts from various sources with differing project end dates. Assist faculty in preparation of award change requests, budget reallocations, and other U-M-required or sponsor-required reports, as directed. Up to 100% remote (optional within Michigan). 

Required Qualifications*

Requires Bachelor's degree in Finance, Data Science, Economics, Statistics, or related field + 5 years of business intelligence reporting, financial analysis, and pre- and post-award experience: using SAP Crystal Reports, Tableau, SQL, Python, R, and SPSS; managing pre-award submissions and creating financial models to monitor the budget and forecast spending; and assisting with research grant pre-award data management, research proposal preparation and budgeting, and post-award budget changes, extensions, and renewals.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
