This is a part-time faculty pool for available assignments during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the year and reviewed based on department need. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Essential Functions:

Instructional Program Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with and serves as a liaison to the diesel industry, advisory committee and four-year institution
  • Advises students in academic program requirements
  • Works collaboratively with other staff members and assists in the successful operation of the program
  • Responsible for marketing the program
  • Participates in professional developmental activities
  • Participates as an active and effective member of the college
  • Participates in curriculum development, improvement, and revision; recommends course outline revisions
  • Contributes suggestions for annual department budget
  • Attends staff meetings and participates in designated committee work; represents the department at pertinent meetings as required
  • Promotes positive image of college and college programs
  • Develops and maintains contacts with community and professional organizations
  • Assists Advisory Committee as needed
  • Functions as a life-long learner

Minimum Qualifications

Five years of successful occupational experience as a Diesel Technician

-OR-

Five years relevant experience teaching in a Diesel Technician training/education
program
-AND-
Certification as a diesel technician (or ability to attain within 1 year

Core Competencies

  • Demonstrable experience providing culturally responsive instruction
  • Bicultural/multicultural skills sufficient to select appropriate behaviors, values and attitudes within different cultures during interactions with others

Preferred Qualifications

  • AAS or BS degree in diesel or related field.
  • More than five years of teaching experience
  • Experience working and teaching at a Community College
  • Bilingual/Bicultural

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
  • This position belongs to the bargaining unit and begins at Step 1. Please refer to current salary schedules here for more information. 
  • All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
  • Requires the provision of official transcripts upon hire
  • Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.
  • Recently hired faculty are expected to participate in a new faculty orientation program
  • Successful applicants for designated positions must successfully pass a background inquiry, which may include criminal, driving, credit and full background checks. Only information relevant to the position will be considered. An individual with negative information on their background inquiry will not necessarily be denied employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20
pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to
move objects. Even though weight lifted may be negligible, it may be rated light
work if frequent walking and/or standing is required.
