Job Description

This job is a part-time, non-benefited, FLSA non-exempt position in the Health Sciences Division that reports to the Program Director of Emergency Medical Services.

 

Salary$15.60/hr.

 

Schedule:  Up to 29 hours per week.  Not allowed to work during an academic break without prior approval.

 

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. Current GA Paramedic License or NRP Certification. Demonstrates initiative and professionalism in appearance.  Possesses good interpersonal skills: with faculty; colleagues peers; and students. Excellent technical skills as a Paramedic.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

In addition to the minimum qualifications, an EMS Instructor license (or higher level) is preferred.

 

Job Description Summary:

Assist the Program Director in instructing, supervising, and evaluating students in classroom/lab settings, as assigned. Complete annual training as assigned.

 

Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.

  • Ensures students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools.
  • Ensures classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained at all times.
  • Ensures work-related projects are successfully completed and that they meet industrial standards.

 

Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.

  • Demonstrates eagerness to learn and assume responsibility; seeks out and accepts increased responsibility; displays a "can do" approach to work.
  • Shows persistence and seeks alternatives when obstacles arise; seeks alternative solutions; does things before being asked or forced to by events.
  • Works within the system in a resourceful manner to accomplish reasonable work goals; shows flexibility in response to process change and adapts to and accommodates new methods and procedures.
  • Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately.
  • Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected; calls in according to policy when arriving late for work or when absent; observes provisions of Fair Labor Standards Act; observes policies on break and lunch periods; uses work time appropriately.
