Job Title- ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR-LEARNING TECHNOLOGY

Position Status- Full Time

Classification Title- Professional-12 m

Work Location- Main Campus-3600 N. Garfield, Midland, TX

Job Summary- The Associate Director of Learning Technology will provide leadership over the use of instructional technology at Midland College. As a key team member of the Teaching & Learning Center staff, this position will serve as the primary administrator for Canvas, Midland College’s learning management system (LMS), providing training and support to faculty. Additionally, this position will develop and facilitate faculty training on the effective use of instructional technology, provide leadership over the development and delivery of online courses, and collaborate with instructional support departments to assist students with using the LMS.

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise in the use of learning management systems
  • Experience as a trainer, instructional designer, or professional educator in any industry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing a learning management system for an organization
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience teaching online
  • Familiarity with online course quality guidelines, such as Quality Matters
  • Experience creating curriculum and facilitating learning sessions

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the primary administrator for Canvas, Midland College’s learning management system (LMS)
  • Oversee LMS support and ticketing system
  • Develop and facilitate faculty training on how to best utilize the LMS, best practices for online course design, and general use of instructional technology
  • Oversee the management of online course quality
  • Collaborate with other instructional support departments to help students utilize the LMS
  • Provide leadership over the administration of online courses
  • Serve as point of contact for new and existing instructional technology subscriptions
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

  • Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
  • Use of manual dexterity
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move from office to other locations on and off-campus
  • College and general office setting
  • Duties indoors and some outdoors
  • Travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town
  • Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events

Security Sensitivity- All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.

Pay Statement- Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
