Basic Function/Definition

The Rio Hondo College Office of Continuing and Contract Education is looking for a part time Community and Contract Education Curriculum Faculty Coordinator for its non-credit, contract training, and not for credit community education courses. These programs and courses serve the community by providing personal and professional enrichment, career development, and the training needs of businesses in our region. Under the supervision of the Dean overseeing this area, the ideal candidate will be responsible for working with faculty and staff to design and develop curriculum content, building relationships with regional employers, and working closely with our Adult Education Consortium partners.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree with related work experience, or Masters Degree required;
  • Ability to form working relationships with employers in order to develop Contract Education agreements;
  • Knowledge about California requirements and policies for non-credit and not for credit curriculum and programs;
  • Knowledge of current instructional theories and principles of non-credit and adult education;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Curriculum Development, Education, Instructional Design, or related field;
  • Knowledgeable and functional in technical writing, including consistent and correct use of tense, grammar/spelling and terminology that is interesting and varied;
  • Knowledge of current labor market trends in Southern California and program needs for potential program development.
  • Knowledge of the California Adult Education Block Grant (AEBG) and adult education consortia;

Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise non-credit curriculum aligned with the college needs and state standards;
  • Work with regional employers to develop workplace-based instruction on a contract basis;
  • Work with faculty and staff to develop short-term non-credit vocational courses and certificates;
  • Update existing course materials to reflect changes in law, regulation or practice;
  • Follow a course revision schedule in accordance with new textbook editions, advances in technology, and developments in the field of study;
  • Represent the college as needed in the community, at professional meetings/conferences and with industry partners.

Foreign Degrees

Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.
