Limited Term IT/Helpdesk Support Technician-Copper Country Center
Job Description
Gogebic Community College seeks candidates at the Copper Country Center for a limited
term, part-time hourly, Helpdesk Support Technician to help with technical support
during the 2024-2025 academic year. The term of employment ends on the last day of
the fall semester – December 13, 2024, with a potential extension through the spring
semester – May 9, 2025. The candidate will work in conjunction with the main-campus
IT team. A flexible schedule is offered during standard campus hours (Monday – Friday,
8:00am – 4:00pm EST). Core duties/responsibilities are listed below. There would also
be opportunities for the person to help with general faculty and student technical support
as requested by GCC’s IT department and Copper Country Center staff.
This position would report to the Director of Copper Country Center. This position pays
$15.00 per hour and may provide up to 10-20 work hours per week.

Core Responsibilities
The Helpdesk Support Technician duties would include:
• Ensuring Zoom distance learning sessions are ready with proper audio and visual.
• Preparing learning spaces for future sessions.
• Being available for real time classroom technical support when needed.
• Helping faculty with general technical support.
• Helping students with general technical support.
• Coordinating with GCC’s IT department and Copper Country Center staff to keep
efforts and issues visible.
Minimum Qualifications
• Familiarity with Zoom or other conferencing technologies.
• General Windows PC knowledge, including various computer inputs and outputs.
• Ability to learn and problem solve as situations present themselves.
• Solution-oriented mindset.
• Troubleshooting skills.
• High level of customer service experience.
• Ability to work on a team and communicate effectively
