Job Description
Position Title: Recruiter - Exempt
Location: Remote
Hiring Range: This position's hiring range is anticipated to be $60,000 - $65,000 annually, depending on experience, plus great benefits!
Manager interviews will occur weekly until the position is filled (recruiter phone screens will occur prior to manager interviews).
Position Summary: Recruiters are often the first interaction candidates and prospects have with the Best Friends Animal Society organization. As such, recruiters are responsible for fostering positive people interactions reflective of the Best Friends culture, brand, and guiding principles. Recruiters work independently and as part of a team to develop and implement recruiting, hiring, and talent processes that reflect Best Friends' culture, brand, and mission enabling the organization to recruit the talent needed to Save Them All.
Key Responsibilities:

- Consult with and build relationships with both candidates and hiring managers to foster trust, build credibility, and ensure a positive candidate and hiring manager experience reflective of the Best Friends culture and brand.
- Manage daily staffing requisition workload and carry out all functions of the recruiting and hiring lifecycle from position requisition through a new employee's onboarding period.
- Facilitate strategic recruitment strategy calls for new requisitions with the hiring manager and other stakeholders. Determine search strategy, create job ads that attract diverse talent, post positions as needed to achieve maximum outreach.
- Perform searches for qualified candidates according to relevant job criteria, using databases, social media, networking, internet recruiting resources, non-profit and animal welfare publications, cold calls, media, recruiting firms, and employee referrals.
- Review applications, pre-screen applicants, arrange hiring manager/team interviews, create offer letters, initiate and review pre-employment checks, and hire candidates.
- Perform data entry into human resource systems to facilitate the hiring and onboarding process.
- Run and review recruiting reports as needed to track KPI (key performance indicators) goal attainment.
- Mentor managers and employees on staffing and HR policies, procedures, and other human resource functions as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Possession of a bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in business administration, human resources, or a field closely related to the position. In lieu of a degree, four (4) additional years of professional experience will substitute for the bachelor’s degree requirement.
- A minimum of 3-5 years' full life cycle recruiting experience with a national, multistate organization, preferred.
- Experience with sourcing, networking, and recruitment marketing, preferred.
- Experience with applicant tracking systems; experience with Workday Recruiting or HCM (Human Capital Management), preferred.
- Proficiency with Office 365 including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to navigate complex situations and apply sound judgement as required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Familiarity with employment and labor law; PHR or SHRM_CP certification a plus, but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to see and sort a variety of printed and online information.
- Ability to work at a computer and/or on the phone for extended periods of time with repetitive typing, arm and hand motion.
- Some travel required up to 10% annually to attend job fairs, conferences or participate in other Best Friends sponsored events.
- Ability to work overtime including evenings and weekends occasionally as needed to support hiring managers and meet required deadlines.
