Incumbent is independently responsible for multiple study protocols for the UCSD Division of Cardiovascular Medicine under the supervision of the Adm. Vice Chair of Cardiovascular Clinical Research, PIs and the Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine, responsibilities will include supervision of staff involved in routine research study coordination. Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Oversees staff in execution of assignments; trains and mentors staff to improve quality and quantity of work.This position will require developing, updating and refining Standard Operating Procedures that serve as the basis for the Program at the site; developing and maintaining a study data bases, including quality control of data.
This position will also coordinate research projects and provide oversight to start- up procedures, study implementation, recruitment, subject screening, enrollment, and maintenance of subjects throughout multiple studies. This includes coordinating with various organizations including the FDA, UCSD OIA, CRO's, Sub-contractors and/or Pharmaceutical companies as well as assisting multiple PIs with the day to day aspects of trials. Incumbent will be responsible for protocol development, writing proposals, progress reports and manuscripts, creating informational and recruitment materials, overseeing the project budgets and day to day patient activities, as well as acting as a liaison with other UCSD departments, community clinics I agencies, and collaborator sub-sites for the purpose of implementation and management of studies. Assure compliance with state and federal regulatory guidelines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSNine years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus five years of related experience/training.
Working knowledge of clinical or laboratory research, clinical trial recruitment, eligibility, protocol adherence, quality data submission and adverse event reporting.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, prioritize projects and meet the demands of a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. Adaptable to quickly changing priorities.
Demonstrated skills in employee supervision and HR administration. Demonstrated experience in training others, particularly in the field of research.
Critical thinking skills to evaluate issues and identify a potential solution.
Clear and concise communicator; good verbal and written communication skills; both.
Good interpersonal skills, including but not limited to: problem-solving, teamwork development, leadership, mentorship. Interpersonal skills to effectively motivate others. Works well with others to achieve common goals. Ability to cultivate relationships with multiple stakeholders at various levels of administration.
Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Effectively uses campus' clinical information and documentation application programs. Proven ability utilizing clinical trial management systems.
Prior experience as a research coordinator and or supervision in Cardiology.
Familiarity with UC policies.
Advanced degree preferred.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $85,400 - $156,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $40.90 - $75.10
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
