Mobile Equipment Specialist

Job Description

Purpose
Monitors the Preventative Maintenance for both on-highway and off-highway equipment located in region. Oversees the provision of quality and timely repair work for both scheduled and unscheduled repairs.

Essential duties and responsibilities, i.e. those which are basic, necessary, and an integral part of the job, are indicated below.

Technical / Specialty Area
  1. Formulates repair estimates for damaged construction equipment
  2. Manages preventive maintenance program
  3. Schedules repairs and manpower for company equipment
  4. Approves invoices for warranty work, sub-contracted work and component purchases
  5. Documents and manages environmental issues, including disposal of hazardous materials
  6. Opens and Closes Work Orders
  7. Orients employees to equipment, processes and company policies
  8. Attends Mobile Equipment staff meetings, Foreman Safety meetings and additional administrative meetings, as needed
  9. Meets with vendors regarding repairs, rentals and parts purchases
  10. Drives a company pickup truck to oversee field repair decisions, to speak with foremen about equipment damages
  11. Drives to vendors and for off-site errands to pick up parts, tools or materials, as needed
  12. Drives to meetings and washes truck, for safety and appearance
  13. Tracks service histories and preventive maintenance reports
  14. Uses e-mail to send photos, estimates and correspondence
  15. Responsible for signing bills of lading
  16. Helps to unload incoming parts and components
  17. May operate a forklift to unload large components, such as hitches, tires or motors
  18. May engage in sedentary work and/or safety training as designated by employer

  • General Superintendent, Superintendents, Foremen, and other staff

Job Qualifications & Requirements

Education:
  • High School diploma, required
  • First Aid and CPR Training, encouraged
Experience & Industry Expertise:
  • Ten to fifteen years' experience with Heavy Equipment
Specific Job Requirements:
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation
  • Valid California Driver's License, Class C
  • Company Forklift Certification
  • Current on all company required safety and regulatory training
  • Ability to preserve confidential and proprietary information and successfully avoid conflicts-of-interest
  • Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end strategic sourcing process
  • Excellent understanding of the construction industry, particularly in infrastructure/heavy construction
  • Ability to build and lead cross-functional teams
  • General financial analysis skills
  • Strong ability using rigorous logic and sound reasoning to solve difficult problems
  • Ability to perform total cost analysis
  • Ability to plan and manage projects
  • Ability to perform procurement-related economic financial analyses
  • Driven to meeting or exceeding business and financial milestones
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade and influence senior leaders across departments
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written, presentation, facilitation and listening

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite(JD Edwards, desirable)
  • Occasional overnight travel
