Nuclear Security Research Support Associate 2

Job Description

NUCLEAR SECURITY RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE 2, Security Studies Program (SSP) – Center for Nuclear Security Policy (CNSP), to provide research assistance and support projects for associated faculty, researchers, and fellows under the direction of the CNSP director. Will perform research, collect, organize, and analyze data; coordinate multiple research-related projects; summarize and document findings; proof-read research papers and articles; assist with fact-checking, editing, formatting, and other support for faculty, researchers and fellows working on nuclear security topics; work on issues of nuclear deterrence, nuclear proliferation and nonproliferation, decision making, nuclear history, and other areas of nuclear security; and gain research experience in political science with an interest in nuclear security before pursuing graduate education.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent; prior exposure to research lab and basic knowledge of general laboratory practices and procedures; ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously; robust organizational, project management, analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking, and written and verbal communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; proficiency with MS Office and Outlook and willingness to learn new programs and software as needed; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; high level of motivation and excellent interpersonal skills; and ability to deal with confidential information and issues using discretion. PREFERRED: at least three-five years of relevant experience, which may include coursework or experience gained as an undergraduate and a keen interest in nuclear security and bachelor's degree in Political Science, International Relations, History, Engineering or a related field. There are two one-year positions with a start date of September 1, 2025 and possibility of extension for a second year.

Hybrid schedule with three days/week in the office. Some occasional evening and/or weekend work will be required.

Salary range: $25 - $28/hour based on experience and internal equity.
