Responsibilities*

Project Management/Continuous Improvement:
- Leads a multitude of focused project efforts related to supporting Facilities Operations. 
-  Routinely reports out on project status to all with vested interest.
- Works closely with all teams within Facilities to accomplish projects in a timely manner.
- Solicits feedback from others to ensure all project aspects are meeting expectations.
- Identifies need for and/or is assigned functional/administrative project oversight and execution.
- Perpetually reviews process and procedure in the interest of continuous improvement.
- Perform root cause analysis on scheduling delays, equipment downtime, and scope changes.
- Analyze system data to optimize team performance and procurement opportunities.
- Routinely partners with Facilities Planning & Development leaders related to major project turnover and related asset management across all of Michigan Medicine.
- Remains cognizant of budgetary components associated with all projects.

Work Coordination:
- Evaluates skillset and materials requirements to complete specific maintenance and project related tasks.
- Plans and schedules work with the appropriate level of detail for field staff comprehension of assignment.
- Generates preventive maintenance work orders for shops included in the PM program.
- Participates in planning activities such as scope definition, scheduling, coordination, risk assessment, execution, and continuous improvement.
- Assist in the location, survey, inspection, and identification of new and existing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing assets & systems.
- Communicates routinely with leadership, procurement, other project management, field staff, and contractors as necessary to coordinate work.
- Works to compile information into job packages that are ready to be completed by Skilled Trades and AFSCME team members.
- Ensures that Maximo work orders have appropriate notes added, materials listed, and time applied by field staff upon completion.
- Conducts field verification of work completion when possible.

Ancillary Project Support:
- Works closely with facility leadership to coordinate mechanical system shutdowns associated with project work.
- Facilitates routine scheduling/planning/coordination meetings.
- Routinely reviews the "Shutdowns" board and updates pertinent information within areas of responsibility.
- Routinely reviews the "Active Huddle" board for awareness of current areas of focus for the team.

Safety:
- Sets appropriate expectations of safety performance on every project.
- Applies safety related knowledge to projects & planning/scheduling processes.
- Routinely leads or participates in safety committee discussions/field activities.
- Works closely with Safety Committee to define and manage projects associated with business workflow.
- Works closely with Safety Management Services and other associated departments to ensure optimal safety process/procedure is in place.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
