Project Coordinator for Student Advocacy

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Project Coordinator of Student Advocacy is responsible for the development and management of student basic needs & wellness initiatives, projects, grants, and programs for the Community College of Aurora. This position will work closely with the Director of Student Advocacy to develop comprehensive systems and processes aimed at promoting CCA’s institutional outcomes. Using data informed strategies, The Project Coordinator of Student Advocacy will create, implement, and refine programs that address disparities in basic needs access, support holistic wellbeing, and advance the success, retention, and completion of all CCA students.

OVERVIEW OF CCA  
The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. More than 20 different languages and 60 countries are represented at CCA. In addition to traditional degree and certificate programs, CCA offers non-credit professional development courses, customized training, and economic and workforce development resources to employer partners and individual professionals seeking to enhance the capacity and productivity of their workforce or individual knowledge and skills. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Coordination

  • Provide operational oversight over basic needs and student wellness initiatives and projects for CCA’s three campus locations, including:
    1. BetterMynd, a free short-term mental health therapy service.
    2. Foxy’s Mobile Market, a free mobile market open to the CCA community and provided in partnership with Secor Cares.
    3. Foxy’s Resource Room, a one-stop-location providing free snacks, coffee, basic need toiletries, sexual health supplies, parenting items, and period products for the CCA community
    4. Food Recovery, an on-campus program aimed at eliminating food waste and promoting food insecurity
    5. Laptop Loan Program, a digital equity-based laptop loan program in partnership with Institutional Technology.
    6. Lactation and Chest feeding Rooms, provided to CCA students and employees in need of lactation and feeding privacy
    7. Period Pantry, a free monthly period product supply service. 
    8. Resource Walls, designed to increase awareness of campus and community resources.
  • Develop, implement, and assess Office of Student Advocacy programming and engagement opportunities that promote holistic student success, including; De-stress Fests, Mental Health & Wellness Events, Parenting Student Month & Events, Safety Week, and Sexual Health Promotion Events.
  • Supervise and oversee training for student wellness ambassadors. 
  • Act as a point of contact for and oversee renewal process for Colorado Department of Higher Education (CDHE) Social Determinant Designations and Generation Hope’s FamilyU Seal Designation.
  • Oversee department marketing needs, including flyer creation, Office of Strategic Communication requests, and department website pages.
  • Manage fiscal processes, tracking, and compliance responsibilities, including management of procurement requirements.
  • Provide grant management to current grants (i.e., RTD Transit Assistance Grant, Food Recovery Network, Community Food Assistance Provider Grant) and identify and lead application processes for all new and current grant projects that align with the mission of the Office of Student Advocacy.
  • Maintain communication and coordinate projects with community-based partners (i.e., Secor Cares, Aunt Flow, Benefits in Action, etc.) in collaboration with the Director of Student Advocacy.
  • Serve as the Student Advocacy representative for new student (concurrent and non-concurrent) programs and events.
  • Serve on division-wide committee to support the facilitation of student employee training.
  • Work with Director of Student Advocacy to prepare and summarize analytic reports on case referrals utilizing these to inform programmatic efforts and student support services.
  • Serve on campus committees or relevant external groups as assigned or approved by Director of Student Advocacy.
  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with CCA administrators, faculty, instructors, and staff to create intentional and cross-disciplinary programming that is CCA mission focused.
  • Complete varied department tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Advocacy.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in business, communications, education, social work, social or behavioral science, or related fields
  • Displays a commitment to serving and uplifting underrepresented communitiesincluding students of color, non-traditional students, veterans/military, first generation college students, and individuals of varying abilities.
  • Demonstrates a student-centered approach with knowledge and experience applying theories of student development, and the ability to view students from an asset- mindset.
  • Illustrates experience in effectively managing multiple initiatives, programs, and events. 
  • Effective communication verbally and inwriting to clearly articulate a project’s goals and utilize each team member’s unique skills to accomplish those goals and desired outcomes. 
  • Highly collaborative with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. 
  • Displays collaboration and a commitment to teamwork, including the ability to motivate people to achieve a shared goal and have empathy to understand their team members.
  • Exhibits strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take obstacles in stride, decide how to overcome them and move forward toward program goals.
  • Exemplifies critical thinking to objectively analyze situations, consider all pertinent information, and make decisions.
  • Experience or interest in developing programs aimed at equitable access and retention of students.
 
 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Master’sdegreepreferredinhighereducation,studentaffairs,business, communications, education, social work, social or behavioral science, or related fields.
  • Experience working with students in a community college setting.
  • Experience with budget management.
  • Experience writing, collecting data, analyzing, and reporting for grant projects.
  • Experience assisting students in their efforts to return to college.
  • Bilingual preferred

 

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Salary Range: Anticipated starting salary range: $70,527.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
