The Hub just celebrated 50 years of essential services for the communities of Sheridan, Dayton, Ranchester, Story, and Big Horn. These services include a diverse range of support including help at home, family caregiver services, home delivered and congregate meals, day break adult daycare, Dementia Friendly Wyoming, fun & wellness and Goose Creek Transit. These services allow for our patrons to age comfortably and safely in their homes, save money in long-term health costs, and continue to engage in the communities they love. As a result, the individuals and the whole community thrive.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Executive Director provides leadership and strategic direction, to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to older adults throughout Sheridan County. This role demands a dynamic leader committed to the welfare of senior citizens, capable of overseeing operations, human resources, financials, and community relationships. This role guides and supervises the leadership team which includes four Directors who oversee finance, development, operations, and human resources. The Executive Director is a non-voting, ex-officio member of the Board of Directors and reports to the President of the Board.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Organizational Leadership & Board Governance:
· Leads in a manner that fulfills the organizational mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
· Responsible for facilitating and executing the strategic plan through the development and delivery of annual operational goals to drive the organization’s mission.
· Embraces the organization’s mission and effectively communicates the impact and value to the community and the people that it serves both internally and externally.
· Consults with the organization’s legal counsel and advises the Board President as required on keeping board activities within the bounds of its bylaws. Oversees board secretary and treasurer functions and the keeping of critical corporate records.
· Communicates effectively with the Board and provides all information necessary for the Board to function properly and make informed decisions.
Government Relations and Community Outreach:
· Facilitates partnerships statewide in conjunction with the Leadership Team to further the mission and benefits of older adults, family caregivers, and the community as a whole.
· Stays informed and actively engaged on state and local legislative issues affecting seniors.
· Communicates and educates Wyoming state legislators on the needs of their older constituents and The Hub’s programs and services.
· Regularly communicates with County Administrator and City of Sheridan Administrator regarding property (City owned), joint projects and collaborations.
· Reports to the County Commissioners and City Council on service delivery, projects, and overall health of the organization.
· Holds a membership and leadership role with the Wyoming Senior Services Association (WSSA). WSSA enables collaboration with other senior centers, participates in legislative initiatives, and promotes the value of community based senior centers provides throughout the state.
Financial:
· Works closely with the Director of Finance to assure the financial health of the organization, accurately maintain financial records and carry out annual audits.
· Identifies and secures funding to support mission critical services; oversees grant administration, ensuring compliance with service delivery, accounting and reporting standards.
· Works in collaboration with the leadership team to develop an annual budget and carry out long-term planning and reporting to ensure ongoing financial sustainability.
Human Resources:
· Oversees the Director of Human Resources to support the recruitment and retention of an engaged workforce, attract a committed base of volunteers, and create a healthy organizational culture.
· Models the values of The Hub and leads the organization to ensure it is maintaining a healthy organizational culture.
· Works in collaboration with HR to develop and enforce employee policies and procedures.
· Mitigates legal risk by staying informed of all sensitive HR matters and evaluating risk.
Development and Marketing:
· Oversees the Director of Development and the implementation of the annual development plan to ensure the organization is financially able carry out the organization’s mission.
· Participates in select programs and events and makes connections with the patrons to answer their questions and elicit their feedback.
· Engages and inspires the leadership team and staff to effectively tell The Hub’s story.
Operations and Risk Management:
· Works closely with the Director of Operations to ensure programs and services are coordinated and delivered safely, efficiently, and with service excellence daily.
· Ensures the Director of Operations highly maintains buildings, grounds, and equipment, and provides for safe and reliable operations of the property within budget parameters.
· Works closely with leadership team to ensure the Hub’s insurance policies are up to date and cost effective and evaluates insurance providers as necessary to provide optimum coverage.
· Works with Leadership Team to promote and monitor health and safety policies and procedures.
Professional Development:
· Participates in educational activities and national and state associations to keep abreast of the latest developments in services to older adults and family caregivers.
· Performs all other related duties as assigned by Board of Directors.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum five years’ experience leading an organization or large department that includes staff management, financial management, program delivery and community outreach.
- Nonprofit management and experience working with older adults is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit or business management, human services, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience working well with a Board of Directors.
- Experience communicating and providing high level strategic thinking and implementation.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee, delegate to and collaborate with a team.
- Proven experience in establishing strong relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including grantees, donors, legislators and community stakeholders.
- Solid organizational abilities including program development and oversight.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Strong leadership skills and enjoys relationship building with the community, staff and patrons.
- Public and government relations experience.
- Experience in human resource management.
- Knowledge of the health and needs for our aging population and those with Dementia.
- Public speaking experience along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Financial management experience.
- Fundraising and grant writing experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Annual starting salary of $100,000 to $130,000 commensurate with experience. Benefit package includes Wyoming Retirement Plan, employee health insurance, PTO, and nine paid holidays.
