POSITION TITLE: Director of Communication Strategy
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
DIRECT REPORTS: Communications Coordinator, NCR Editor, Social Media Relations Specialist, Content Manager, Graphic Designer
STATUS: Exempt
LOCATION: In-Office – Jacksonville, FL
Interdepartmental Collaboration:
This role involves close collaboration with ACF Staff, ACF Board of Directors, American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF) Board of Trustees, Chapter Presidents, Members, and Prospective/Corporate Decision-Makers.
Position Summary:
As the Director of Communications, you'll be at the forefront of shaping the organization's messaging and public image. With a keen eye for strategic communication, you'll lead efforts to enhance brand visibility, engage stakeholders, and drive organizational objectives. Your role is pivotal in fostering a cohesive narrative across various communication channels, amplifying the impact of the American Culinary Federation on a national and international scale.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies to drive revenue growth and enhance organizational image.
· Ensure consistent articulation of the organization's brand and messaging across all communication platforms.
· Oversee the creation, production, and distribution of print and online publications.
· Manage media relationships and handle media inquiries.
· Coordinate with internal stakeholders to facilitate production and messaging for events and initiatives.
· Collaborate with other departments for strategic planning, problem-solving, and cross-promotion.
· Provide regular updates and reports to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and stakeholders.
· Supervise and support departmental staff, ensuring effective performance management and succession planning.
· Develop and manage the communications department budget.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in communications, public relations, marketing or related field.
Experience Requirements:
· Minimum of 6 years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing.
· Experience in a membership-based nonprofit organization is a plus.
· Proficiency in executing multi-channel communication strategies, including social media, print, and digital platforms.
· Experience in publications including trade magazines and other trade media outlets.
· Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives.
· Experience managing media relations.
· Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and drive results.
Skills and Traits:
· Excellent writing and editing skills with a strategic mindset.
· Collaborative and analytical aptitude for effective communication planning.
· Positive, empowering, and supportive leadership style.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.

Work Environment:
This is an in-office position, and the successful candidate will be based at our Jacksonville, FL office. Remote work or hybrid arrangements are not available for this role.
