Job Title: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Organization: Blue Ridge CASA for Children

Mission and Vision: Blue Ridge CASA for Children advocates for abused and neglected children, aiming for each child to have a volunteer advocating for their best interests.

Summary: The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for implementing Board-approved policies, procedures, and strategic plans. The CEO supervises the Director of Programs, who oversees a staff of employees who train, coordinate, and oversee community volunteers to become Court Appointed Special Advocates in the communities of Augusta, Page, Rockbridge, Rockingham and Shenandoah Counties. The CEO is responsible for ensuring the quality of program services. The CEO supervises the Director of Operations who oversees fiscal management, human resources, fundraising, marketing and grants management.

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate possesses high-level fundraising and grant writing experience, is comfortable interacting with various stakeholders, and has a passion for building relationships, particularly in new service areas (currently Shenandoah and Page Counties). The ideal candidate prioritizes cultivating a healthy and positive workplace culture. They recognize the significance of fostering an environment where team members feel trusted, respected, and supported. They actively promote open communication, collaboration, and mutual respect among team and board members. They value diversity and inclusion, ensuring that all individuals feel welcome and appreciated regardless of their background or perspective.

Non-profit experience is preferred.

Job Requirements:

  • History of measurable success in fund development, including Grant Writing and high-level Fundraising
  • Fiscal management, public relations, and program administration
  • Superior empowerment skills to work effectively with volunteers, staff, and Boards of Directors
  • Strong understanding of the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, community partners, and judicial officers
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred, in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice, Business Management, Public Administration, or related field
  • Considerable related work experience
  • Passion for the welfare of vulnerable children
  • Strong commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) & Belonging initiatives within the organization

Key Responsibilities:

Fund Development:

  • Lead efforts to achieve budget income goals annually through various fundraising initiatives.
  • Design and implement long-term fundraising plans aligned with the strategic plan.

Outreach:

  • Serve as an official spokesperson for CASA.
  • Oversee outreach efforts for mission awareness, fundraising, and volunteer recruitment.

General Management:

  • Develop annual work plans implementing the strategic plan.
  • Track and evaluate key performance indicators to achieve organizational goals.
  • Supervise and manage personnel, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws.

Fiscal Management Oversight:

  • Oversee fiscal and administrative operations.
  • Review and approve expenditures, develop annual budgets, and seek Board approval.

Program Oversight:

  • Oversee program operations and ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders and assist in issue resolution.

Liaison to the Board of Directors:

  • Serve as liaison between the Board and staff.
  • Attend all Board meetings and provide monthly reports.
  • Implement Board directives, policies, and procedures.

Position Details:

  • Reports to: Board of Directors
  • Classification: Full-Time, Salaried Exempt
  • Supervises: Leadership Team, Interns
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Salary: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00+ per year (based on experience, education, and vision for the organization)

  • Schedule: Monday to Thursday, with Fridays, evenings, and weekends as necessary
  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience: 5+ years related experience required
  • Work Location: Multiple locations; local hybrid remote work possible

Note: Must be able to relocate or commute to the Blue Ridge CASA service area.
