2.00% across the board salary increase effective February 24, 2024*

  • Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Realignment Sales Tax Collections performance.

The Department of Public Health, Health Education Section is seeking a Public Health Program Coordinator to assist the Health Education Public Health Program Manager in coordinating opioid response initiatives, program operations and service delivery; facilitate and monitor program budgets and objectives; supervise and direct staff; write and manage grants; evaluate staffing and service delivery for effectiveness and efficiency; and make recommendations to the Public Health Program Manager regarding staffing issues, caseload management (as applicable), and program policy.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process:

Travel: Travel throughout the County and State may be required. Employees will be required to make provisions for local transportation; travel throughout the State will be at the provision of the employer. Mileage reimbursement is available. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained throughout employment.

 

 

Minimum Requirements

 

Applicants must meet one of the following qualifying options:
Option A:
Education: A Master's degree in Public Health (MPH), with an emphasis on Health Promotion and Education, Community Health, Health Administration, Public Health Policy, Global Health, Environmental Health, Health Science, Nutrition, Epidemiology, or closely related degree.
 

-AND-

Experience: 
Two (2) years of professional lead/ supervisory experience with project/program oversight in a public health department, health services provider organization, healthcare organization or community based health organization, which included the following: planning, implementing, and evaluating health programs (with emphasis on health education programs); grant development and administration; monitoring project budgets, conducting community/healthcare education activities; developing social media campaigns and instructional/educational materials; organizing events and working with community coalitions; and developing community partnerships.

Option B:
Education: A Bachelor's degree in Health Promotion and Education, Public Health/Community Health, Health Administration, Public Health Policy, Global Health, Environmental Health, Health Science, Nutrition, Epidemiology, or closely related degree.

Experience: 
Three (3) years of professional lead/ supervisory experience with project/program oversight in a public health department, health services provider organization, healthcare organization or community based health organization, which included the following: planning, implementing, and evaluating health programs (with emphasis on health education programs); grant development and administration; monitoring project budgets, conducting community/healthcare education activities; developing social media campaigns and instructional/educational materials; organizing events and working with community coalitions; and developing community partnerships.

 

 

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a related field of study, and experience in the following areas:

  • Program planning and development
  • Grant/contract writing/development and administration
  • Budget preparation
  • Project or program management
  • Full-scope supervision
