Adjunct Faculty- Physical or Outdoor Activity

Job Description

Western Wyoming Community College is seeking a highly motivated individual to teach physical activity or outdoor skills courses. Applicant will be responsible for fostering student learning through effectively teaching classes in the WWCC Department of Exercise Science. Teaching responsibilities include offering instruction to students of various skill level and experience, planning activities, demonstrating appropriate and safe techniques, and evaluating and assessing student performance and progress. Additional duties will be dependent upon qualifications and interests of the applicant and the needs of the department.
It is expected that this individual will accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner, and strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, this individual must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public. This individual must follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides quality instruction to students in assigned courses. May teach up to 9 credit hours per semester.
2. Provides quality learning experiences for all students in accordance with their needs and abilities while maintaining the basic integrity of the course’s standards and objectives.
3. Provides a safe environments and adheres to safety standards of practice established within the discipline.
4. Ensures that all the required paperwork related to health, safety and liability is completed by the students, and that this paperwork is submitted to Student Learning office.
5. States clear objectives and criteria in each course syllabus; follows the Curriculum Committee’s guidelines regarding course syllabi; integrates appropriate WWCC Goals for
Student Success into each course; evaluates students’ performance in light of these objectives and criteria.
6. Teaches courses in a variety of environments and modes as required. Courses may be offered in the fall, spring or summer semesters and on varying schedules, and may meet during the day, evening, weekend, or at one of WWCC’s outreach centers.
7. Designs and implements effective learning processes for students; provides feedback on student improvement in attaining the College’s Learning Goals.
8. Learns to communicate clearly and effectively using the college network system, Canvas, and word processing; integrates learning with technology into the classroom as appropriate.
9. Orders the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
10. Refers students to the resources in the College Learning Center, Peer Tutor Center, Library, Career and Placement Services, and Wellness & Accessibility Center.
11. Maintains an inventory of all assigned equipment and supplies in assigned areas; takes prudent efforts to safeguard WWCC physical resources from unauthorized use.
12. Submits syllabi, student evaluations, grades, and other required information in a timely manner.
13. Submits re-certification documents in a timely manner and completes End-of-Year Evaluations as requested by the Division Chair.

Minimum Qualifications
1. A bachelor’s degree in the field and/or a combination of education, training and tested experience in the discipline.
Four Qualifying Options
• Bachelor’s Degree in field,
• Associate’s Degree and four (4) years of Discipline-Specific Training and Tested Experience,
• No degree, but has eight (8) years of Discipline-Specific Training and Tested Experience,
• Is certified at the highest level available within the industry that the faculty is teaching.
Additionally, all faculty are required to – or will before beginning instruction – be current on any relevant professional certifications expected within the discipline. Faculty will hold all reasonable and relevant certifications as identified by the full-time faculty in the academic discipline.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Demonstrated teaching excellence at a community college.
