General Summary

The Truck Driving Instructor will train students to have the knowledge to pass the commercial vehicle and driving exams to obtain a career in the transportation industry.

Specific Position Duties

Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal regulations concerning operations of commercial motor vehicles; Provide classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction; Train students in the basic operations of various combinations such as vacuum trailers, flatbeds, dry vans, etc.; Evaluate student capabilities and progress in accordance with the State of Texas standardized testing materials; Responsible for recordkeeping and data entry; Ability to work in all types of outside weather conditions; Ability to perform a wide range of motion and mobility tasks involving climbing, crawling, bending, pulling, and lifting in teaching and demonstrating operation procedures; Willingness and ability to teach various courses, times, locations, and delivery methods, as needed and as reasonably requested by the college; Deliver material in a clear and understandable manner; Maintain effective relationships with professional counterparts throughout the college and the community; Comply with all college, state, and local procedure, rules, and regulations;

Minimum Qualifications

Three or more years of Truck Driver experience utilizing a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL); Valid Class A commercial driver license and a three-year safe driving record. Comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) medical requirements
