Biostatistician
Job Description
The Department of Epidemiology is hiring a Biostatistician Position to support the development and dissemination of applied statistical tools for health equity research, including approaches for descriptive measurement and causal inference. The position will conduct literature reviews, data management, and statistical analyses and will act as a liaison and facilitator to assist in accomplishing the mission of the research program, including collaborating frequently with key internal JHU partners and collaborators, including students, staff, and other faculty. The position reports directly to the research program principal investigator.
Key Aspects of the Position include
- Answer policy-related questions relevant to health equity.
- Data cleaning, management, exploration, analysis.
- Strong understanding of quantitative analysis methodologies, including descriptive analyses, regression analyses, and other advanced statistical methods for causal inference.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Data Management and Analyses
- Work with study Principal Investigator and research team members to support the conduct of the research.
- Conduct literature reviews of the relevant statistical literature.
- Conduct simulation studies to evaluate statistical methods.
- Prepare analytic datasets for statistical analyses.
- Write statistical computer programs and reviews output for consistency and quality.
- Conduct quantitative analyses including causal inference and policy evaluation approaches.
- Compile results from analyses for presentations, dissemination summary reports, and manuscripts.
- Produce resources and programming code that is generalizable other contexts, including creation of an R package.
- Analyze, interpret, and report study findings.
Study Management
- Project management to ensure deliverables are completed on time (i.e., prioritization, timeliness, setting milestones, monitoring, and status updates).
- Creates processes and systems to ensure a high level of operation and successful and reproducible implementation of the projects.
- Assists with the creation and management of protocols for human subjects research applications.
- Generate reports for project deliverables.
- Edits manuscripts, including formatting and citation management.
- Drafts PowerPoint slides for faculty presentations on study activities.
- Plans team meeting agendas and coordinates project meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or related quantitative field.
- One year related experience.
- Demonstrated ability on significant graduate project or additional doctoral education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Project management experience.
- Data cleaning, management, and analysis experience.
- Experience with the R programming language.
- Written and oral communication skills.
