About the Role:Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: NBIX) is offering the opportunity to gain drug substance development experience in the world of biotechnology. Our intern program offers exposure to process chemistry. The chemical development team has considerable experience as well as a strong reputation in the industry for process chemistry within chemical development.

- Supporting a range of activities, including performing complex chemical reactions and performing process development as well as identifying unknown impurity structures to understand their mechanism of formation
- Performing scale-up reactions up to kg scale
- Interacting with analytical development and product development areas within the company
- Collaborating with a mentor team of cross-functional team members as well as the other interns in the class
- Completing a special project and presenting the recommendations to senior management upon completion
- Discuss plan(s) and progress(es) with and report results to the mentor weekly or as needed
- Pursuing an undergraduatedegree with an interest in chemistry and/or organic chemistry
- Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry would be an asset but is not required
- Familiarity with running organic reactions, isolation or crystallization of the intermediates or products, handling analytical instruments (ex. HPLC, NMR, GC, etc.), and software's/search engines such as Reaxys, Sci-Finder, Chem Draw is desirable
- Drafting, editing, and presenting documents and presentations during team meetings
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think creatively and be a team player
- Offer flexibility with a willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Bring to the company a skill set complementary to its technology and development therapeutics
- Interest in attending various program events, including social gatherings, career development workshops, and more
- Ability to commit to a 10-week, full-time summer program
