About the Role:

Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc. (NASDAQ: NBIX) is offering the opportunity to gain molecular toxicology, pathobiology, and computational toxicology experience in the world of biotechnology. Our intern program offers exposure to with colleagues in the Toxicology, Data Sciences/Artificial Intelligence, DMPK, Biology, Chemistry, and Clinical Pharmacology groups. The Investigative Toxicology team has a strong reputation in the industry for innovative research to reveal compound drug-induced cell- and organ-related toxicity predictions using computational tools and genomic/proteomic-based safety biomarkers.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Supporting a range of activities, including compound drug-induced cell- and organ-related toxicity predictions using genomic/proteomic-based safety biomarkers and computational tools

  • Regularly presenting progress updates to team members and present recommendations to senior management upon completion of the special project

  • Collaborating with colleagues (e.g., Toxicology, Data Sciences/Artificial Intelligence, DMPK, Biology, Chemistry, and Clinical Pharmacology groups within the company

  • Collaborating with external partners (contract research organizations, CROs)

  • Interacting with a mentor team of cross-functional team members as well as the other interns in the class

  • Completing a special project and present recommendations to senior management upon completion

Requirements:
  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree with an interest Toxicology, Pathobiology, and Computational Sciences is required

  • Strong work ethic, good verbal and written communication skills, and excellent scientific skills is required

  • Ability to think creatively and be a team player is required

  • Basic data preparation skills (e.g., Excel, GraphPad Prism, PowerPoint, other software(s)) is required

  • Interest in attending program events (e.g., career development workshops, social gatherings) is required

  • Lab (e.g., molecular toxicology, pathobiology) and Computational Toxicology work full-time is required

  • Bring to the Company a skill set complementary to its technology is required

  • Familiarity with biopharmaceutical technologies, physical and life sciences, product development, and regulatory approval processes is desired but not required

  • Ability to commit to a 10-week, full-time (40-hours per week) during the summer program is required
