Job Description

The University of Notre Dame is searching for a talented, mission-driven Assistant Director, Annual Giving Programs (ND Listens) to oversee initiatives that drive student engagement, philanthropy education, and contribute to our overall Donor Count goal.

In this role, you will join a gritty, fun, and collaborative team who embraces thinking differently. You will fight every day to advance the mission of Notre Dame by raising critical funds that empower Notre Dame students to be forces for good in the world.

Core Responsibilities
The Assistant Director, Annual Giving Programs is a critical member of the Annual Giving team at one of the nation’s leading Universities who focuses on three key areas:

Lead and Grow ND Listens
  • Manage a team of senior managers and a cohort of 100+ student representatives
  • Source and execute calling campaigns to steward, delight, and engage the Notre Dame family
  • Interview, hire, and train a pool of student callers and senior managers
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and implementation skills for the calling software and other technologies
  • Partner with the broader Annual Giving team through coordinated calling efforts
  • Serve as the Department of Development’s liaison to the student body to identify talented students to recruit to the department

Build and Lead Student Philanthropy Education
  • Act as the advisor for ND Loyal Student Ambassadors (NDLSA)
  • Lead the senior giving campaign to achieve participation goals
  • Independently plan and execute all student engagement activities for Notre Dame Day

Stewardship Planning and Execution
  • Partner, strategize, and execute mass stewardship communications in conjunction with the Annual Giving Programs team
  • Connect students and Regional Development to fulfill personal stewardship requests
  • Lead For Good, Monthly Giving Stewardship program


Work environment
This role is eligible for hybrid work based in South Bend, Indiana. This role is typically 40 hours/week but will require additional hours during home Notre Dame Football games and during our annual Day of Giving, Notre Dame Day.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Relevant experience in storytelling, marketing, and/or communications
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, project-manage, and evaluate
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Strong grammar and proofreading skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in using Excel and/or Google Sheets to accurately manage, manipulate, and track data
  • A commitment to Catholic education and the mission and values of the University of Notre Dame including diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Dedicated to the goals of advancing higher education
  • Experience and success in achieving ambitious goals and metrics
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors
