Duties and Responsibilities
The MSU Hospitality Management program is seeking hospitality faculty to assume a tenure track position with varied areas of specialty. The MSU culture, career opportunities, mission and values, along with significant benefits make us an employer of choice.

- Teach classes in the program as required.
- Recruit, coach, and mentor students for the Hospitality Management degree program.
- Establish a focused program of research and to successfully seek extramural funding.
- Collaborate and work closely with the FSNK Hospitality Program director.
- Coordinate with leadership within FSNK Department, The Jake Jabs College of Business & Entrepreneurship and The Gallatin College to pursue strategic objectives for the program.
- Engage with complementary centers/programs across the university, throughout the state and beyond.
All members of the faculty are expected to engage in professional/college/university service and to provide leadership in Montana and beyond through active participation in professional organizations. This position is a 9-month tenure-track appointment with a start date of August 2025.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- A doctorate (Ph.D.) in Hospitality Management, Business Management, or related field. ABD candidates will be considered provided they complete their dissertation by August 14, 2025.
- Evidence of effective teaching or demonstrable potential for excellence in teaching.
- Published scholarly articles relevant to an area of specialty or demonstrable potential for excellence in research/scholarship.
- Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to inclusion, pluralism, and individual differences.
- Evidence of strong written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
- Demonstrated potential or ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Evidence of service to the hospitality profession.
The Successful Candidate Will
The successful applicant will be committed to excellence in teaching hospitality courses as well as in developing a program of funded research that is of relevance to the profession and in disseminating that work through peer-reviewed publications. Additionally, this individual will demonstrate the commitment to being a collaborative team member in the College, to supporting the mission of the College, and to working in a collegial manner with industry professionals external to the university.
