Job Description
Description of Position
Performs non-exempt work requiring understanding of a specific function or body of knowledge, including a variety of physical and automated tasks to facilitate library operations.
Clerical Duties require some exercise of judgment under general supervision, as well as applying skills and knowledge of bookkeeping, cash handling, inventory, and assisting faculty, staff, students, and the general public
Informational
- Assists with patron requests (phone, chat and in-person)
- Assists patrons with on-line catalog
- Supports patrons research needs with appropriate print and on-line materials
- Provides directional assistance
Technology
- Escalates technology issues and implements technology solutions under the direction of Library IT and ITS.
-Supports CLI technologies (Computers, VR, Fast Capture Studio, etc)
Technical
- Registers library patrons and other date entry as assigned
- Checks materials in and out, collects fines and other payments
- Mends materials
Outreach
- Create promotional materials for the library, in person and for social media
- Support events such as library outreach and VR demos
Security
- Opens/closes building as required
- Reports security violations (destruction of library materials, theft, etc.) to senior staff member
Other
- Assists with special projects as needed
- Other related duties as assigned.
This is a regular part-time position with retirement benefits. Must be available to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Position is Open until Filled- applications will be reviewed as they are received.
Minimum Expectations & Requirements
- High School graduate or GED equivalent
- Two years of employment in a customer service field
- Strong interpersonal communication skill to interact with staff, students, faculty, and general library users
- Ability to display a positive outlook and willingness to appreciate differences in individuals
- Computer literacy (familiarity with Internet, email, word processing and spreadsheet software)
- Ability to multitask and problem solve
- Detail oriented
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Ability to do repetitive tasks

Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Associate's degree or above
- Experience operating: computers, copy machines, printers
- Experience with a library automation system
- Task orientated (prioritizes and adheres to deadlines)
- Work experience in a community college/higher education environment

The employee must frequently lift, push/pull and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
