At Sony Electronics Inc (SEL), the needs of customer data for marketing application and growth of business have significantly increased. SEL is seeking a Data Engineering and Science Specialist to maintain high level of data quality and integrity to deliver in delivering marketing insights with customer data advanced analytics.
Reporting to the Manager of Data Platform Strategy and Data Science, this role will be responsible for architecting and engineering analytic data solutions, including designing and developing data marts in our cloud data platform (Databricks) as well as delivering insights via advanced analytics with the customer data. The right candidate will be highly skilled/experienced in both areas. The ideal candidate will be able to be a bridge the gap between raw data and actionable insights, ensuring data quality and integrity. While mining, cleaning, transforming our customer data, this candidate will be relied on to ask questions, connect the dots, and uncover hidden opportunities for realizing the data's full potential. As part of a team of specialists, the candidate will "slice and dice" data using various methods and create new visions for the future.
The candidate is a critical role and part of the Sony's Chief Strategy Office focused on the achievement of Sony's strategic mid-range goals.
Key Activities/Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and data models in Databricks including the implementation and optimization of data models for analytics/reporting and marketing activations.
Supported by Sony's IT team, create and optimize end-to end data flows from bringing data into Databricks and transforming data from Databricks to downstream systems for analytics/reporting and marketing activations
Oversee and optimize data engineering workflows within Databricks, enhancing data processing and analytical capabilities.
Collaborate with other cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, design scalable solutions that meet business needs, and data issue resolutions.
Proactively define and implement an operational excellence agenda, focusing on continuous improvement in data engineering practices and processes.
Manage the daily operations of Sony's data environments in Databricks by monitoring data quality exceptions, data quality controls and remediation, ensuring the data is always accurate and available for any analytical or marketing processes.
Troubleshoot production data quality issues and ensuring data integrity in collaboration with Sony's IT team.
Support the development roadmap for continued enhancements and improvements to Sony's data environments.
Establishes standard operating procedures, consistent definitions, and data governance.
Supported by Legal, ensures Sony's data operations and use comply with existing US and Canadian Privacy Legislation and keeps up to date with new and developing legislative changes.
Collaborates across other Sony Companies and Sony HQ teams to develop effective predictive models and advanced analytics.
Design, develop and implement advanced analytics solution including AI/ML solutions such as predictive models to drive optimization and improvement of marketing activities.
Oversee Sony's identity resolution in Databricks, test and control groups management for marketing measurement capabilities in collaboration with Sony's internal or external IT team.
Experience And Skills
Required
Bachelor's in data engineering, big data analytics, computer engineering, AND related field and 2+ years of experience in data engineering such as schema design, ETL, data quality management, managing cloud platform services, and data science
Hands-on experience using Databricks or similar platform and deep understanding of its architecture
Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
experience in data mining, mathematics, statistical analysis, and prediction modeling using AI/ML as well as using programming language (R, Python etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, and Sisense)
Strong problem-solving skills, ability to structure solutions into a data model to support analytics needs.
Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail, commitment to continuous learning.
Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Experience and working with external vendors and agencies and collaboratively across different teams, both in North American, Japan, and India.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Familiarity with Redshift, APIs, AWS,
Two or more years of project management experience
Two or more years of business analytics and consulting experience
