Research Program Assistant

Job Description

We are seeking a Research Program Assistant who will assist with Photovoice activities held with youth in Baltimore. The Photovoice projects will train youth in using photography to research and document their perceptions of health, community, and housing conditions.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the planning, coordination and facilitation of trainings and meetings held as part of Photovoice activities.
  • Support analysis of photographs, writing reports and planning and coordinating photography exhibitions.
  • Assist with literature reviews.
  • Assist with report and manuscript writing.
  • Support administrative duties (e.g., scheduling meetings, maintaining project-related correspondence, ordering supplies), as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent, with some college courses preferred.
  • Some related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience assisting activities as part of research or art projects are preferred, but not required.
  • Basic photography skills.
  • Good written and oral communication and organization.
  • Ability to work on a deadline.
  • Experience with Photovoice.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks, work independently, work as part of a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, ability to adapt to change, and work with diverse groups of people.

Starting Salary Range: $15.40 - $23.25 HRLY ($18,720 targeted; Commensurate with experience) 
Employee group: Casual / On Call 
Schedule: Flexible to include working hours (i.e., 8:30 am -5 pm M-F) and evenings and weekends 
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt 
Location: Hybrid/School of Public Health
