Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Participates in experimental design and carries out experiments including animal surgeries.
- Operates and maintains experimental equipment; performs electrophysiology experiments studying mechanically activated ion channels.
- Records and analyzes data from experiments.
- Assists Principal Investigator in data processing.
- Maintains a proper data notebook pursuant to the standards of the Department and the PI.
- Contributes to the intellectual development of the project.
- Contributes to the writing of manuscript
- Candidate must hold a Ph.D.
- Strong background and experience in patch clamp electrophysiology, and molecular biology.
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and be able to work independently
- Experience in studying mechanically-activated ion channels is desirable.
Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals, if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply.
