Vice President (VP) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
MEDIC Regional Blood Center, a non-profit community blood bank, is conducting a search for a collaborative and strategic Vice President (VP) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide effective leadership in developing, implementing, and managing the financial operations and fiscal management of the organization.
MEDIC has approximately 135 employees throughout all departments and locations and an annual gross revenue between $20 million to $30 million dollars.
About MEDIC
MEDIC was established in 1958 by Carl Nelson, MD, under the sponsorship of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine. MEDIC’s operational and capital costs are financed by blood supplier processing fees charged to hospitals. MEDIC is the only U.S. blood center which has a Blood Coverage Program covering members’ blood supplier processing fees at any hospital in the country. MEDIC is a member of America’s Blood Centers and is an accredited member of AABB. The center adheres to the blood product safety regulations established by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is licensed by the FDA and the State of Tennessee.
Today, MEDIC Regional Blood Center is the provider of blood and blood-related products for 25 hospitals in 23 counties in East Tennessee and Southeastern Kentucky and regional air transport services. MEDIC’s main location is in Knoxville, TN with other fixed collections sites in Farragut, Athens, and Crossville. Job Summary
As a member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the President and CEO, the Vice President (VP), Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for MEDIC is a pivotal leadership role responsible for financial operations and fiscal management of the organization, administering the general accounting, purchasing and financial functions in accordance with established policies and accounting procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for payroll administration and related compensation reporting in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
- Directs the preparation of timely internal financial reports and related information for internal and external users and assures the reports reliably reflect the financial position of the organization.
- Monitors, interprets, forecasts and analyzes financial performance and cash management needs in realizing established plans and objectives.
- Responsible for direction and timely submission of financial data, financial survey data and associated financial reports required by government and other financial regulated or industry agencies.
- Responsible for the documentation and administration of the MEDIC membership program and related donor, hospital and community benefits.
Qualifications (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (Master’s Degree preferred).
- CPA License in Tennessee (or in another US State with the ability to obtain TN CPA license).
- Five years of experience working at the CFO, Director of Finance, or Director of Accounting level in a complex healthcare and/or manufacturing setting.
