Research Technologist
Job Description
We are seeking a Research Technologist in the Division of Pediatric Oncology devoted to the study of small molecule therapeutics in the treatment of cancer. After training, under the general supervision of a faculty investigator or laboratory manager, the candidate will be primarily responsible for performing in vivo mouse experiments, molecular biology assays, and laboratory maintenance and organization. The position will provide an opportunity to learn laboratory skills and to contribute to cancer research.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Utilize in vivo mouse models to perform laboratory experiments.
- Working with mice will include handling mice, administering drugs, tissue dissection, and performing survival surgeries.
- Basic use of scientific methods, procedures, and techniques gained through previous training and experience.
- Basic understanding of the theory behind experiments and applies basic analytical skills to implement assigned projects, and to identify and troubleshoot situations needing special attention.
- Follows established procedures or protocols and utilizes aseptic techniques to perform laboratory tests and/or experiments which may include tissue culture, cell separation methods, electrophoretic separation assays, basic molecular biology, or other specialized histology and biological science techniques.
- Monitors inventory levels, orders materials, and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures, and counts orders upon receipt.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some related post-undergraduate work experience.
