Odessa College is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Part-Time Electrocardiogram (EKG) Instructor to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a strong background in electrocardiography. This role involves delivering high-quality instruction in EKG procedures and interpretation to students in our Continuing Education program. The position is contingent on student enrollment and requires up to 19 hours of teaching per week.
Specific Position Duties
- Develop and deliver engaging course content on EKG procedures, techniques, and interpretation.
- Create and maintain a positive and supportive learning environment for students.
- Prepare and administer assignments, quizzes, and exams to assess student understanding and progress.
- Provide timely feedback and academic support to students.
- Stay current with developments in the field of electrocardiography and incorporate relevant updates into the curriculum.
- Collaborate with other faculty and staff to ensure course alignment with program goals and accreditation standards.
- Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to departmental activities as needed.
- Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to explain complex concepts in an accessible manner.
- Proficient in using educational technology and learning management systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current certification as an EKG Technician or equivalent (e.g. – Certified EKG Technician (CET) or Registered ECG Technician (RECGT) is required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in EKG procedures and interpretation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching Experience Preferred but Not Required.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Director of Health Careers.
