Position Overview

The Accountant position is a vital member of the Accounting Office, working collaboratively with members within the Finance Division, as well as other members of the University to perform day-to-day functions and achieve the strategic goals of the division and University.

This position will perform accounting functions, including, but not limited to, management and reporting of the Fixed Assets and project funds of the University, the preparation of journal entries, assisting with the annual financial statement audit, performing fund/account analysis, P-card maintenance, reconciliations of various general ledger accounts and period-end closing procedures by both University policies and procedures, and generally accepted accounting principles.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Bachelor degree with an emphasis on accounting or related discipline is required.
• Demonstrated relevant experience is required.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, Word is required.
• Demonstrated good organizational, communication, and writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work well independently, multitask and meeting deadlines.
• Committed to team efforts and coalition building.
• Analytical and inquisitive. 
• Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Experience in non-profit fund accounting preferred.
• Knowledge of Banner and Cognos is preferred.
