Your Role As a Gensler Design Manager, you are a seasoned architect and proactive leader with a successful track record of leading project teams and providing management oversight on multiple projects through all phases of the design process on architectural, core & shell and Life Science projects. Working with the Principal-in-Charge and/or Design Director as the day-to-day interface with the client, deploy resources and staff sharing overall responsibility for client satisfaction, quality control, financial performance, and team dynamics on your projects. What You Will Do Lead the design process, financial performance, and risk management of Life Science projects with a collaborative, integrated approach, leading to innovative design strategies for our clients. Collaborate with studio and team leadership to prepare project proposals and negotiate contracts and fees with clients and consultants and manage your projects from start-up through closeout. Provide leadership to the client and team by communicating project objectives, contract scope, terms, and schedule. Define an inclusive process for project execution. Manage schedules, budgets, staffing, and project set-up with the team, clients and consultants. Track and manage financial performance of your projects (e.g., work plan, schedule, fees, change orders, billings, and collections), to support our design and business objectives on a weekly basis. Actively mentor the next generation of leadership by inspiring, empowering and leading by example. You will be responsible for advancing an integrated design culture on your projects within the studio, including mentoring, resources, discourse, initiatives and recruiting of team members from diverse racial/ethnic and gender backgrounds. Outreach, interface, and coordinate with office accounting, legal, and HR teams, as well as project managers across the studio and office. Attend studio and office project management meetings. Your Qualifications Licensed architect (CA preferred) Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture or related field 10+ years of project experience in an architectural practice Experience (2+ years minimum) managing life science projects Experience (3-5 years minimum) managing a project team Experience (2 years minimum) negotiating and managing project scope, fees and schedules LEED or sustainable credentials preferred Industry relationships with consultants and contractors for both large and small scale projects preferred Knowledge of building codes, standards and building structures Knowledge of different project delivery models and their impact on the design/delivery process. Expert proficiency with MS Office, Bluebeam Knowledge of Adobe (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), AutoCAD/Revit Humble curiosity, with a learner mindset Excellent written, oral, and graphic communication/presentation skills Proven ability to create a collaborative, positive, and inclusive design team culture on a diverse team Proven experience or demonstrated commitment to mentoring or coaching junior team members Proven experience building trust with clients and developing client relationships For consideration, please submit cover letter, resume and portfolio in PDF format. We view our professional development programs as strategic investments in our future. **The base salary will be estimated between $110k - 125k plus bonuses and benefits and contingent on relevant experience.
