OVERVIEW
Voices of Hope – Lexington, Inc. is a non-profit Recovery Community Organization that was founded by people who are in or have been affected by substance abuse disorder. We are radically inclusive of all pathways of recovery, reducing stigma when and wherever possible, and demonstrating recovery is possible for everyone. Our highly trained staff are leading the forefront of recovery in the state of Kentucky, working at a Recovery Community Center in Lexington and in conjunction with over 80 detention centers, hospitals, courtrooms, and other partner agencies.
This Mobile Outreach Recovery Engagement (MORE) assistant position will involve mobile outreach to vulnerable members of our community, including people who are actively using drugs or drinking alcohol, experiencing homelessness or hunger, engaging in sex work, or living in historically underserved neighborhoods.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Travel to develop relationships with community partners and people seeking recovery services
- Assisting the MORE Recovery Coach with stocking van, set up/tear down of equipment at locations and serving coffee, snacks, and providing needed supplies when engaging people.
- Provide a model for both people in recovery and staff by demonstrating that recovery is possible.
- Suggest procedural and policy changes to improve operational efficiency.
- Advocate for the organization by presenting and adhering to current and new policies and protocols.
- Maintain participant confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
- Be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Be able to lift approximately 30 pounds occasionally.
- Complete other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with the addiction recovery process.
- Familiarity with local support services, resources, and recovery community.
- Capability of engaging people where they are.
- Demonstrated skill in actively listening, asking good questions, awareness of self and treating people as resources.
- Understanding of and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.
- Cross-cultural skills, and experience with culturally diverse populations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, both individually and in a group
- Strong customer service ethic essential.
- Bilingual a plus
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be 18 or older
- High School Diploma or GED
- Possess a valid Kentucky driver's license with no health problems that limit or restrict driver's licensing.
- Minimum of five years driving experience with no more than two at-fault accidents or six or more deficiency points in the past three years.
- Submit a Motor Vehicle Release Form.
- Strong interpersonal skills, both individually and in a group.
- This position will require you to work outside and from a mobile van.
- Ability to be a hands-on, solution-oriented team player.

HOURS
- Willing and available to work a flexible schedule (evenings, weekends, etc.), as needed.

- Reliable transportation is required
