Security Dispatcher
Job Description
We are seeking a Security Dispatcher who will provide dispatch, radio, and telephone communication support to Campus Police.
Note: Primary shift is 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive calls for security, and for security escort van, as well as transferring incoming calls via multiple phone lines, route request via two-way radio appropriately; report any emergencies to Security and accurately record all activity on dispatch log sheets.
- Become familiar with campus maps and one-mile radius service area. Monitor closed circuit TV cameras and report any issues immediately: there are @ 80 cameras at Peabody and the dispatcher monitors @ 7 monitors.
- Provide access to campus via secured gates per policy.
- Maintains a number of keys to locked rooms, such as the practice rooms, classrooms and studios; monitors the keys assigned and returned throughout the day.
- Follow directions and adhere to University and Security Department policies and procedures; perform other related duties as required.
Internal & External Contacts
- Daily and frequent interaction with students, staff, faculty, vendors and visitors to the campus.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Must be able to provide professional customer service to clients (students, faculty, staff and visitors to campus).
- Must have effective and appropriate verbal skills.
- Ability to operate radio, telephone, closed circuit cameras, card key access system, computers and basic office equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
