Position Overview: This position serves as the agency's business leader, skilled in driving organizational success and empowering high performing staff. This position will report to the Board of Directors and will have overall management responsibility for a growing impactful agency with a 14 million annual budget and 80+ employees. This position combines inspirational leadership and sophisticated management abilities and will advance the Agency in terms of culture, capability, processes and impact. This position works closely with the Agency's executive administrative team and will inspire innovation. This position will ensure that the Agency is continually well equipped to advance its mission to promote the dignity and independence of older adults, persons with disabilities, and other homebound persons by delivering nutritious meals and providing or coordinating needed services. Delivering meals and so much more.
Paid As: Salary, Exempt, Full-Time Employee
Reports To: Board of Directors
Supervises: All Agency staff and functions
Committees: Meets with all Committees as needed or assigned
Other Relationships: Attends Board Meetings, including Meals On Wheels, Inc., Endowment and Client Assistance
AGENCY EXPECTATION OF EMPLOYEE
- Maintain confidentiality of client, donor, volunteer, staff and board information
- Support the mission, vision and goals of Meals On Wheels, Inc. of Tarrant County
- Represent Meals On Wheels in a professional manner at all times
- Required to pass criminal background check and have a free and clear MVR
- Contribute to other projects when necessary
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS
Executive Leadership & Organizational Management
- Provide thoughtful and visionary executive leadership that is inclusive, transparent, and empowering in a manner that supports and guides the organization's mission as defined by the Board of Directors
- Present strategic options and plans for organization impact and gain Board approval as needed to carry out the work of the mission of the Agency
- Organize, motivate and mentor internal team leaders to strategically grow the Agency's impact, programs, fundraising and to effectively fulfill its important mission
- Apply innovative thinking and performance measurements to analyze and support strategic decision-making
- Continually foster a culture that encourages collaboration between departments and recognizes positive contributions
- Contribute to the strategic plan and drive its implementation
- Manage and motivate staff, overseeing processes such as hiring, separation, ongoing staff development, performance management, compensation and benefits
- Inspire a business-oriented, professional, results-driven environment across the Agency
- Perform general management duties overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Agency
- Establish goals, objectives and operational plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors, staff and other leaders
Board Governance
- Maintain regular and ongoing communication to build strong relationships with the entire Board, providing leadership and support to members at all times
- Communicate effectively with the Board by providing members with all information necessary to continually function properly and make informed decisions in a timely and accurate manner
- Attend all Board meetings and provide reports and updates on staff as well as all current work, project timelines, and project and organizational progress
- Gracefully manage the board as needed to build consensus, remind of outstanding deliverables and offer support
- Implement Board policies and procedures and build support for Board decisions amongst staff
- Work closely and openly with the Board and its committees, ensuring ongoing communication of risks, issues, as well as successes
Development & Fundraising
- Drive development and fundraising in collaboration with the Senior Vice President and Vice President of Marketing, leveraging the Board as needed
- Initiate, cultivate and develop connections with the Agency's portfolio of supporters
- Ensure the Agency's financial stability and sustainability by maintaining healthy cash flow and adequate reserves
Financial Management & Administration
- Provide strategic leadership and hands-on management for all of the administrative and operational functions of the Agency in accordance with the mission, objectives and policies
- Direct resources and manage all financials within budget guidelines and according to current laws and regulations
- Assume responsibility for the fiscal integrity of the Agency and is the executive signer of all Agency contracts
- Monitor board-approved budget and manage daily financial operations to ensure maximum utilization of resources and optimum financial positioning for the Agency
- Ensure maximum resource, budget management and maintenance of the Agency in a positive financial position
- Build and administer the annual budget with the Senior Vice President for Board approval
External Relations& Communications
- Represent the Agency and serve as chief spokesperson publicly at events, conferences and partnership meetings
- Present and promote the Agency, its mission, programs, partners and members in a positive manner
- Ensure high visibility to prospects and the public and build interest in engaged philanthropy
- Manage all aspects of the Agency's marketing and public relations
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years' experience as a CEO, Executive Director, or in a relative position of a nonprofit
- Bachelor's degree
- Strong business acumen and a history of providing visionary leadership at the executive level
- Familiarity with diverse business functions such as Marketing, Public Relations, Human Resources, etc.
- Excellent written, oral, and public speaking skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with strong interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
- Must be able to communicate and work with clients, donors, volunteers, staff and board members
REQUIREMENTS
- Passion for the Agency's mission
- Review and implement agency policies and procedures key to the operational tasks related to agency administration and program activities
- Expertise on issues relevant to the Agency
- Extensive strategic leadership experience in the management of organizations of comparable mission and size
- Ability to build collaboration with the community at large
- Capacity to command respect and confidence from stakeholders
- A high level of curiosity and intellectual intelligence
- Desire to explore innovative approaches, solving problems and proficient in conflict management
- Maintain relationships with foundation executives, trust officers, corporate leaders and other community representatives to maximize support for the Agency
- Provide staff support as designated for the Agency Board of Directors, Trustees, and Committees
- Work with outside funders and other organizations to promote agency programs, serve on committees, and support community coalitions that benefit clients and participants
- Participate as needed as a member in Meals On Wheels Texas, Meals On Wheels America, Chambers of Commerce, and other related organizations
- Make presentations on behalf of Meals On Wheels to promote the programs and services and solicit volunteers
EXPERIENCE
- Experience working with local elected officials and knowledge in building teams and developing partnerships
- Proven organizational growth and leadership of a similar or larger size successful nonprofit and/or related entity
- Demonstrated governance of a nonprofit Board and working with diverse groups of people
- Established track record of promoting diversity and success in motivating, recruiting, developing, retaining, and mentoring high performance, mission-driven, and result-oriented staff members
- Understanding of increasing philanthropic support and building revenue
