Manager-Front End Engineering (Remote)
Job Description
American Specialty Health Incorporated is seeking a Manager - Front End Engineering to join our Consumer Technology - Software (CRS) department. This position will mentor and help with the career growth of the Front-End Engineering team. As Manager, you will also manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of websites and initiatives, including managing a remote Front End Engineering team. You will be responsible for ensuring the success of all aspects of initiatives you are charged with overseeing, interacting with other engineering team disciplines (e.g., UX, DevSecOps), software and front-end engineers, and all levels of management to determine project requirements for new development and keeping technical debt low. You will also advocate for the latest front-end standards, practices and principles across all product teams and applications - as well as mentor and help with the career growth of the Front-End Engineering Team.
Remote Worker Considerations
Candidates who are selected for this position will be trained remotely and must be able to work from home (WFH) in a designated work area with company-provided technology equipment.This remote/WFH position requires you have a stable connection to your Internet Service Provider with the ability to participate by video in online meetings over a reliable and consistent network (minimum internet download of 50 Mbps and 10 Mbps upload speed).
Responsibilities
- Enable teams to research, design, develop, and maintain existing and new websites and components
- Monitor and analyze team progress and results within their product teams and adjust assigned resources as necessary to maintain user and engineering goals and milestones.
- Provide guidance and oversight in project planning, technical design, estimating and development schedules.
- Facilitate a culture of innovation and lessons learned among engineering teams to maximize quality and productivity.
- Oversee the execution of multiple projects simultaneously and ensure deadlines are met, without sacrificing software quality.
- Cultivate an environment of collaboration, transparency, and passion for innovation.
- Supervise team and work with department representatives to coordinate project priorities and progress.
- Evaluate and communicate employee performance through weekly 1-on1 meetings and annual performance reviews.
- Engage, manage, mentor, and coach a team of front-end engineers on career goals and growth.
- Partner with others to deliver results. This includes, but not limited to, product owners, product managers, scrum masters, and other department managers (software, UX, QA, and DevSecOps).
- Grow the team by attracting and hiring top talent and promoting engineers when ready.
- Retain and promote career growth of the Front-End Team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. If equivalent experience, high school diploma required.
- Requires a minimum of three to five years of Web or Software Engineering experience, including hands-on experience in developing large-scale websites.
- Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
- Proven management skills of an engineering team working on enterprise-level website(s) with a focus on people leadership and coaching.
- Ability to lead, coach, motivate, and mentor your team and colleagues across teams.
- Knowledge of latest HTML, CSS, and JavaScript standards and APIs.
- Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of the latest front-end libraries and frameworks. Specifically React and common tools used by React applications.
- Understanding of web analytics, accessibility, and performance metrics.
- Self-directed with excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to establish and maintain cooperative, respectful working relationships.
- Time management skills demonstrated by the ability to delegate on, and execute, multiple projects and team management tasks while working on a tight deadline and collaborate with other teams.

Environmental Conditions
Fully Remote with occasional usual office setting.
