The Nuclear Science and Engineering Center within the Chemistry department at Colorado School of Mines is hiring for a Post-Doctoral Fellow.
A Post-Doctoral Fellow is needed to conduct solvent extraction experiments with actinide metals and synthesize ligands for solvent extraction work.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and complete solvent extraction experiments with actinides.
- Synthesize ligands used in solvent extraction experiments.
- Analyze solvent extraction data using radiometric counting techniques.
- Contribute to technical reports.
- Contribute to published manuscripts.
- Work safely in a radioactive materials laboratory.
Additional responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned including designing system components, troubleshooting experimental designs, contributing to technical reports.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- PhD in chemistry with experience in analytical chemistry and/or inorganic chemistry.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques, data analysis, and error analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Experience with dispersable radioactive materials and working with radioactive materials in general is desirable
- Synthetic experience
- Proficiency in radiometric counting is desirable

$60,000 per year
