Position Summary:
The postdoc researcher will work closely with the PI and lead the effort to design and execute research ideas; assist in supervising graduate and undergraduate students; develop vibrant research proposals and conduct relevant research in robotic self-assembling systems. Specifically, the postdoc should be capable of designing and developing novel robotic self-assembling systems and contribute to advancing theory in the field. The postdoc will assist in a federally-funded project on robotic self-assembling systems targeted at disaster response.

Essential Functions:
The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day development of a novel robotic system, including mechanical design, electrical design, programming, and algorithm development. Presence on-campus to facilitate this work and to coordinate with undergraduate and Masters student workers will be essential.

Additional Functions:
Renewal of contract is contingent upon performance and funding availability.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
  • An earned PhD in a field related to robotics.
  • The candidate should have a strong practical background in robotics as well as a focus on pursuing holistic research within the field.
  • A record of student mentorship or motivation to mentor students is considered important.
  • A record of high-quality publications and competent writing skills are important.
  • At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
