We are seeking a senior EW systems test engineer to contribute to the design, development, integration, test, and evaluation of complex, next-generation airborne warfare systems. We are passionate about providing advanced EW systems to protect our service members in challenging and contested environments.
As a Senior Airborne Electronic Warfare Systems Test Engineer, you will ...
- Join a dedicated team of engineers and scientists who assist Government and industry personnel to develop, integrate, test and field novel solutions to the hardest problems in air warfare.
- Provide technical expertise and operational context to the Integrated Test Team’s test plans and test execution to ensure mission success in challenging and contested airborne environments.
- Incorporate lessons learned from previous test and operational deployments to improve future system performance and optimize warfighter effectiveness.
- Utilize your technical and tactical knowledge to train other APL staff in the development, test and operations of military platforms and systems.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you ...
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or another related discipline.
- Have extensive experience in development, integration, and/or test of hardware or software systems.
- Have a demonstrated track record of excellence in technical leadership.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and technical writing skills and are able to effectively mentor professional staff.
- Are willing to travel between the APL Laurel, MD and Lexington Park, MD offices and within the National Capital Region.
- Are able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

- Have a Master's degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or another related discipline.
- Have graduated from a formal test & evaluation curriculum (e.g. USNTPS, ETPS).
- Have leadership experience in one or more of the following areas: airborne EW systems operations, EW mission planning, test & evaluation of airborne systems.
- Have experience with USN/USAF Developmental or Operational Test organizations.
- Have a professional familiarity with Precision Strike Mission Area programs and sponsors.
- Hold an active Top Secret security clearance.
