- Position Summary

Victoria College's Department of Academic Support and Student Success is hiring for part-time tutors. �These positions are responsible for assisting Victoria College students in the subject areas of Math, English, Humanities and Sciences at the Victoria Campus Tutoring Center. �This position is paid based on degree earned as follows:
Associate Degree - $13.00 per hour
Bachelor's Degree - $14.00 per hour
Master's Degree - $16.00 per hour
Doctorate Degree - $18.00 per hour - Duties & Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:
�- Provide subject-specific content to help students through drop-in assistance
- Recognize the different learning styles and student preferences
- Create a professional and welcoming environment by modeling respect for students� diverse cultures, language skills, and experiences
- Use active listening strategies to allow student to determine content and pace of tutoring
- Utilize listening and questioning strategies as the primary tutoring method to diagnose student needs and monitor progress
- Participate in professional development activities to improve tutorial skill and continue to grow cultural competence and reflection skills
- Utilize instructor�s course notes, student�s feedback and reflection to improve practice
- Recognize primary role to help students become more confident, more successful, self-directed learners
- Be direct and kind with students at the same time
- Provide direct assistance in the use of equipment, learning objects, and materials needed for student success
- Make appropriate referrals to other campus and community resources as needed�
- Be available during scheduled hours to tutor Victoria College students
- Keep current on CRLA training to improve competency and obtain a better understanding of the tutoring process
- Continual communications with Lead Tutor is mandatory
- Adhere to schedule guidelines�
- This position will access student records at times and will follow all FERPA guidelines
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Tutor
- Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
� � �- Associate�s degree or higher and experience teaching in the subject area to be tutored
- Received an A or B in the subjects they will tutor �
- Professional reference letter required
- Knowledge of basic computer skills �
- Experience working with college students and diverse population preferred
- Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle controls, key pads, etc. Will be required to sit and reach with hands and arms as well as, sit, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds while loading office supplies and paper. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, some color vision, and the ability to adjust focus from documents to computer screen. Hearing of light to moderate sound is required by this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
